Top Decision Making Body: China is a one-party state with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) controlling the government. The nine-person Politburo Standing Committee of CCP is the top decision-making body in China.
Top legislative Body: The National People's Congress (NPC) and its Standing Committee. Representing the people and all levels of people's congresses in China, the NPC supervises all state-level institutions. Its powers include electing the President of China.
Top administrative body: The State Council, which is the cabinet or chief administrative body of the PRC that includes the heads of all governmental agencies. Currently Headed by Premier Wen Jiabao.
Top Military Agency: Central Military Commission of the People's Republi of China and the Central Military Commission of the Chinese Communist Party , overseeing the People's Liberation Army (PLA) includes the Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Second Artillery Force. Current Commander: Chairman Hu Jintao

Chinese governments are divided into five levels, from the central government at the first level to provincial, prefectural, county and township government at the second to fifth levels respectively.
