Liyang Overview
Liyang is located in the south of Changzhou city, Jiangsu province, is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Changzhou which is a tourist city.
Liyang boasts of natual beauty and with a history of more than 2000 years. The weather in this area is mild and humid, for it influenced by a maritime monsoon climate, the four seasons are distinctive and the annual average temperature is 15-16ºC, the average rain precipitation is 1,160 mm. Liyang with an area of 1,535 square kilometers and has a population of about 780,000.
This beautiful city is considered to be home to China's most beautiful women. Liyang is known as the place where produce the best quality of teas. Liyang was also considered as an agricultural land in the Jiangsu Plain but the revenue of this sector only occupied a small portion, one of fifteens, of the total earnings of the city each year in the past decade.
The rapid economic expansion and industrialization over the last two decades has added numerous new sectors to its industry, including manufacturer and tourist divisions. Investments from outer sources have stably increased over years. These capitals have greatly enhanced the city’s economical capability and the city was ranked at 47th on the list of China’s Top 100 Counties (county-level cities) for its comprehensive economic strength.
In order to protect its environment, specifically for its water resource, Liyang municipal government has been putting stiff environmental rules into practice over years and has spent massive funds to protect its environment. The municipal government took action to renovate the sewage disposal systems of hotels and other residential buildings around the lake. There steps were highly successful and the lake’s water quality has improved remarkably. Now the water can be used for drinking or making tea. Liyang Tea festival attracts thousands of visitors each year. The abundant freshwater is the key resources for its agricultural sector and tourism. Numerous bodies of water are crisscross around the area, including five lakes and lots of river.
