Yuecheng District is located in West Ning(bo)-Shao(xing) Plain, south bank of the Hangzhou Bay, east to Ningbo and west to Hangzhou. It covers an area of 362 square kilometers with a population of 650,000, having formed 1-Hour Economic Circle and 2-Hour Tourist Circle. Known as “the place of waters, the place of culture and the place of celebrities”, Yuecheng District has a history of 2500 years. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Shaoxing City. The whole district generated the total output value of 38.25 billion RMB yuan with the total retail turnover of 16.06 billion RMB yuan. Its urban per capita disposable income hit 23,509 RMB yuan and per capita net income of rural residents reached 11,950 RMB yuan. By the end of 2008, the district had owned 1083 foreign-funded enterprises with total investment value of 6.4 billion US dollars. Shaoxing city has been honored as one of China 40-Best Cities with Excellent Investment Environment, one of China Inland 10-Best Commercial Cities and one of China’s Happiest Cities.
