Lianjiang Overview
Located in the southwest of Guangdong province and the north of Leizhou Peninsula, Lianjiang is faced with Beibu Gulf in the southwest, with 48 kilometers to the north of Zhanjiang. As a transportation juncture of Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan, it is a must-passed place if you set sail in Zhangjiang Port from Southwest China. Sharing border with southwestern Guangzi, Lianjiang is the bridge and window for Guangdong's entry into the Economic Zone of China's Beibu Gulf Rim, and being the important region for the cooperation among Economic Zone of China's Beibu Gulf Rim, the Pan Pearl River Delta and other regions. There are 18 towns, 3 street communities and one provincial economic development zone. Lianjiang is a vast city of 2840 km2 and the northeast is higher than the southwest, mainly with hillock. It is suitable to grow fruit trees and develop township industry.
It is southern Asia's monsoon climate. The average temperature is 22.9℃, with plenty of sunshine and rain. There are dry seasons and rainy seasons obviously as well as a long summer and a short winter. When the weather is hot, it always rains a lot.
The population of Lianjing is 1.63 million at the end of 2009. We have enough human resources with 1.28 million agriculture population, 700,000 rural laborers and 40,000 transferable laborers. Among these people, there are 244 advanced talents and 6121 senior talents. Besides that, there are 577 schools, colleges and universities in Lianjiang, with 312,000 students. The colleges and universities, Zhangjiang Modern Science and Technology University (Lianjiang), for example, provide us lots of excellent human resources.
