Overview
Located at the bank of Wujiang River in the middle Zhejiang province, the ancient city, Jinhua, is one of the most important transportation hubs. The Zhejiang- Jiangxi railway traverses Jinhua from east to west, and the land transportation system extends in all directions as well in Jinhua.
Jinhua city has over 2,000-year history till now. In ancient China, Jinhua mainly belonged to the territory of the Yue Kingdom in the period of Spring and Autumn. It was denominated with the name of Huiji in the Qing Dynasty. On the first year of Baoding, Emperor Sunhao’s reign of Wu Kingdom during the period of three-kingdoms (AD 266), Jinhua was set up as a province. After that, it changed to Wuzhou prefecture in the Sui Dynasty (AD 593). Jinhua became a prefecture after China’s liberation in 1949. In 1985, Jinhua changed from a prefecture to a city.
Jinhua is a new tourist city. It is known as the city of landscapes and tourist attraction. Up to now, Jinhua has established a new tourist structure. Led by the Jinhua Mountain Scenic Resort, the new structure is focused on landscapes, pilgrimage, shopping, folkways, food, etc. This kind of tourist style is welcomed deeply by visitors both at home and abroad.
Administrative Division Outline:Under its jurisdiction, Jinhua has two districts, Wucheng and Jindong, four county-level cities, Yiwu, Dongyang, Yongkang, and Lanxi, and three counties, Pujiang, Wuyi and Pan’an. The municipal government is located in Wucheng District.
