Main Functions(Profile):
As the provincial seat of Hebei province, Shijiazhuang practices policies of open coast areas and financial openness with approval of the State Council. Situated in the hinterlands of north China plains, Shijiazhuang is the south gate for the capital. Shijiazhuang is one of the production areas of grain, vegetables, meat, eggs and fruit in the country. A state-accredited production base of high-quality wheat, Shijiazhuang is usually called as the “northern granary.” In 2007, Shijiazhuang’s GDP totaled RMB 277 billion. The total population amounts to 9.395 million, with a per capita GDP of RMB 25,056.
