Fuzhou, abbreviated to “Rong”, is the provincial capital of Fujian Province, located in the eastern part of Fujian and the lower reach of Min River. Fuzhou governs five areas, two cities and six counties, covering 12 thousand square kilometers. It has a total population of 6.87 million, and its planned urban area covers 1043 square kilometers, housing 2.71 million urban residents.

In the city of Fuzhou, Yu Mountain, Wu Mountain and Ping Mountain shape the tripartite confrontation, and Min River runs through the city as a green belt, forming Fuzhou’s unique landscape of “Mountains in the city, city in the Mountains.” Fuzhou thus is also named as “Three-Mountain.”

Fuzhou, with its favorable geographic environment, is located between the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta, close to Hongkong-Macau and well-connected with Southeast Asia.

Among the provincial cities of China’s mainland, Fuzhou is nearest to Taiwan; the distance between Pingtan County and Taiwan Xinzhu is only 68 nautical miles, and it is less than 8000 meters between Lian Riverg Huangqi Peninsula and Matsu. The number of Taiwan natives with Fuzhou citizenship is more than 800,000, and the clansmen association is established in each of Taiwan’s county (city). Fuzhou is also a famous hometown of overseas Chinese. According to incomplete statistics, the number of overseas Fuzhou citizens is about 2.7million, scattered across more than 100 countries and areas.
