It lies between Longitude 121°43'´-122°19'east and Latitude 36°52'-37°23'north.Its land area is 1,645 square kilometers and the coastal line is 156 kilometers.Besides,Wendeng is located in the connection of Qingdao , Yantai and Weihai . More than 2000 years ago,Qin Shihuang,the first emperor of Qin Dynasty ,who united China for the first time in history,made an imperial inspection to east China,he was so fascinated by the scenic lands-capes here.He summoned all the men of letters to climb the mountains and write poems to extol his great achievements.Hence the place was named Wendeng,which in Chinese means“Men of letters climbing mo-untains.”In 568 A.D,a county-level government was established in Wendeng,and“The learning customs of Wendeng people”are famous all over the country during Ming and Qing Dynasty .In 1988,Wendeng City was established to replace the former Wendeng Counry.Wendeng ,as one of the best areas for public order in China,boasts of its honest people and civilized society .It was once popularized nationwide as an exemplary civilization city.
