Dingcheng Overview
Dingcheng District is a district of Hunan, China. It is under the administration of Changde city.
Dingcheng,also named Linyuan, Yuannan, Suoxian, Hanshou, Wushou, Jianyuan, Wuling and Changde in ancient times, has a 2000-year history.
Since the establishment of People’s Republic of China in 1949, Dingcheng District has witnessed the development of a more convenient transportation network, and has now become an important land, water and air transportation hub. Two national highways G319 from Xiamen to Chengdu and G207 from Xilinhaote to Hainan, and three expressways (Changsha-Changde, Changsha-Zhangjiajie and Changsha-Jishou) meet in this district. Two provincial highways S306 and S205 run through it. The railway from Shimen to Changsha and the airlines of Taohuayuan Airport link Dingcheng District with other places of China. It is an important commercial port in the Northwest of Hunan, and enjoys fame as “the most prosperous place in Hunan”. It is rich in cultural and educational resources.
